M and L Khwela Ride is a community initiative undertaken by
Loyiso with some input from friends and the community with the
aim of starting up a Horse Cart Ride based in a township.
This has been precipitated by the Executive Summary major
research (DEAAT.2002) that was conducted to establish tourism
areas (TDA’s), where the regional government of the
Western Cape must focus their efforts.
This summary is in line with the national levels of planning,
which has legislated policies of Local Economic Development (LED).
Effectively, this policy, in terms of tourism, is a pro-poor strategy.
